2010 Summer Color Guard Camps

The 2010 Summer Color Guard Camps have begun! Give your child a spinning start for the Fall season with Flag Camp, Rifle Camp, Sabre Camp, and Dance Camp. Flag Camp is mandatory. Dance Camp is strongly recommended. Click this link for the schedules for each camp in .pdf format.

Camp dates at Medlar View are as follows:

Dance Camp
Friday, July 30 from 6-8
Saturday, July 31 from 11-1

Rifle Camp
Monday, August 2 from 6-9
Wednesday, August 4 from 6-9

Sabre Camp
Saturday, July 31 from 9-11
Saturday, August 7 from 9-11

Flag Camp (Mandatory)
Monday, August 9 from 6-9
Wednesday, August 11 from 6-9
Friday, August 13 from 6-8

Dance, Rifle, and Sabre camps are $25.00 each; Flag camp is $30.00. You will be expected to pay the entire amount of each camp on the first day of camp. There is no sibling discount for camp this year due to the lower camp fees! Please Note: if your daughter is only able to attend one day of the camp, you will still need to pay the entire camp fee, and arrangements will be made for her to make up the time with an instructor.

We need to know which camps your daughter will be attending. Flag camp is mandatory, and dance camp is highly recommended. If your daughter will participate in sabre and/or rifle camp, she will need the appropriate equipment. Please let Becky Diehl know if your daughter needs a rifle, a sabre, and rifle gloves. If ordering gloves, indicate size (XS,S,M,L). All rifles will be ordered in one size, and sabres will be ordered in two sizes, depending upon the size your daughter needs. Final equipment costs will be coming soon, however, we need to get the equipment ordered so that it's here in time for camp. You will need to pay for equipment when it is received.

As we get into August, Becky Diehl will be taking over as the Vice President of the Elementary and Jr. High colorguards. I have personal and professional obligations that require more of my time, and I want to make sure that the guard is well taken care of. Becky was elected to the position at the June meeting, and she will do an amazing job! She has a daughter in the seventh grade and one in the first grade, so she will be at a lot of practices! I truly appreciate all of you who have provided so much support and understanding as I served in this position for the last three years. I will certainly still be around a lot - just not as the VP.

If you missed our parent meeting in early June, we began signing out Harley tickets. Please contact Lesa Hunter at 219-9353 to get your ticket sales started.

2010 HS Winterguard Show: This Woman's World

2010 season marks Miamisburg High School's 27th appearance at the WGI World Championships. For the upcoming season, this highly recognized, iconic WGI unit presents a program entitled, "This Woman's World" using music from Eva Cassidy's rendition of "What a Wonderful World" as well as selections from the "Great Expectations".
